A Visit From Friends

On June 2nd, Crystal, Jeff, Maliyah, and Zavier made a trip to Chicago. They stayed at our house for a night and we got to watch all the kids play together. We went into the City on Monday, met Kirk for lunch and went to see the Bean. We had a great time visiting; it was just too short!

This picture is fuzzy but I love seeing the interactions between them... Maren watching Zavier crash into the bean bag and Elena reaching for Maliyah's hand.

Festival at Winnetka

One Saturday, we headed out for a festival with rides, slides, treats, swings, bounce houses and pony rides!

I even got to go on one of the roller coasters with Elena and Maren.

Maren's 3rd Birthday

 Maren turned 3 on June 24th. We had a small gathering at our house on Saturday, June 22nd with Meme and Tim, Auntie Beth and Nikki, Chris, Maggie and Ryan. We ate outside and then moved inside for the balloon man to come and do his show.

The first balloon creature was the Little Mermaid, made for the Birthday Girl

The kids were mesmerized by his abilities to twist and create balloons. 

He made Elena a huge octopus.

By the end, Maren was very, very, very tired. She was all partied out. 

A Day at Navy Pier

Since we had some visitors and we had not been in the City too much yet this summer, we decided to head to Navy Pier. We had a nice little walk and then found the carousel. Of course, we had to ride the carousel!

 Kirk and Tim rode in one car on the giant ferris wheel and the ladies all rode in the next car. Elena and Maren could not quite figure out what they were doing in the next car and not in ours.

Maren does not always like her hair brushed but today the polka dot girl let Tim brush her hair.
